I’m revamping msouden.com and have been avoiding making some decisions. I finally settled on the landing page offering 2 options – currently called “Work” and “Not Work” – which then are essentially (not actually) two different sites.
I began moving posts into matching “work” and “not-work” parent categories after disregarding the idea of running two separate installs of WordPress- it’s the more responsible thing to do – use page types and categories rather than manage two sites. More right-sized for my needs, too.
But here’s the thing. We are talking about MY site. My portfolio. My Writing. The big baddie of mean clients- me. Perfectionism paralysis? Have you seen the “Under Construction” sign up for the last TWO freaking YEARS?
This makes for amazingly thorough “market research”- a perpetual search for my own “unique” flower/voice/design/structure/identity. I can change & refine target audiences, investigate theme frameworks, and tweak workflows for months. I even at one point moved the whole thing over to Ghost (and back).
Which is really just my way to get bound up and stalled out on something that’s hard.
